Of potential interest are research materials such as news clippings related to the integration of Southwest Texas State College in 1963. Materials are arranged by function into three series: Planning, Event, and Research.

Historical note

African-American Presence at SWT: Celebrating 40 Years was a series of events in 2003 led by the College of Liberal Arts and the Center for Multicultural and Gender Studies. The purpose was to highlight and celebrate the contributions to the campus community by African-American students, alumni, faculty, and staff over the previous 40 years, beginning with the integration of the college in 1963. Events included a reception and exhibition held at the Alkek Library, a history symposium, and publication of a special booklet on the African American presence at Texas State, all of which coincided with Black History Month, February 2003.

Abstract

African-American Presence at SWT: Celebrating 40 Years was a series of events in 2003 led by the College of Liberal Arts and the Center for Multicultural and Gender Studies.
