In some cases Harrigan added notes and inscriptions describing the materials and providing background information....

7 weight Loomis fly rod made by John Graves. Two pieces in green canvas case, case is 59” long. Written on the fly rod: “Loomis F1087 IMX J. Graves” plus Graves’s infinity symbol. According to Bill Wittliff, this was the last fly rod that Graves used, and the fishing line is crinkled at the end where Graves removed the last fly. , undated

Scope and Contents From the Series:

Photographs and artifacts collected from Hard Scrabble for the John Graves archive. This collection includes photographs of John Graves and his family, including early 20th and late 19th century family photographs. This collection also contains two clay jugs, one leather belt with the silver “infinity” symbol belt buckle worn by John Graves, the camp box that Graves used during his canoe trip for Goodbye to a River, and a 7 weight Loomis fly rod made by Graves.

Subseries Description From the Sub-Series: This large subseries is composed of legal documents from various trials stemming from the siege. The first trial, when the federal government prosecuted eleven Branch Davidians in 1994, is well documented, with over eight boxes of trial transcriptions. Reavis was a reporter at this trial in San Antonio and wrote about it in his book. Because of his expertise on Waco, Reavis served on the Timothy McVeigh defense team in 2000, and produced more subject files and gathered other legal documents,...

Also titled and arranged alphabetically by title, according to how we received them, the research notebooks are additionally very similar to the subject files in that they pertain directly to Reavis’ research for his book. Most files are photocopied books that were bound with plastic comb binders and plain covers, with the titles written on the front. This sub-series is dated according to when Reavis is likely to have accumulated the copies, not by the dates of the original documents.
