Scope and Contents This series has been arranged in chronological order by date of the novel’s creation. This is the largest series, with the numerous Dancing Bear files documenting Crumley's changing ideas for titles and other aspects related to the novel. Although multiple drafts of each work are present, the drafts typically include only the first few chapters of the work. This series comprises the bulk of the collection and includes drafts, typescripts, annotated typescripts, and bound typescripts of published and unpublished novels.

Sub-Series Description From the Sub-Series: Original carved and inked woodblocks created by Barbara Whitehead commissioned by the Encino Press. These blocks have been scanned and printed on plain paper for ease of access. See print-outs and accompanying zip-disks in box 877.
