This collection also contains official SXSW and ACL music and program guides, as well as drafts of Davis’s comprehensive ACL book, Austin City Limits: 25 Years of Music.

Abstract From the Series:

The Ray Benson archive includes material documenting Benson’s music career from 1971-2017. Majority of the collection includes promotional articles, including an article from John Morthland; and awards. Included in the collection are photographs of Benson with President George W. Bush, Laura Bush, and others; Benson’s boots and concert jacket; and correspondence with Dolly Parton and others. The folder titles preceding a semicolon reflect Benson’s original descriptions.

Book manuscripts, screenplays, drafts, cartoons, clippings, correspondence, photographs, ephemera, sound recordings, and regalia documenting Sublett's careers as a rock musician and writer. Many of the drafts of Sublett's writings include handwritten annotations by the author. Copies of certain letters to Richard Holland, then-Curator of the Southwestern Writers Collection, have been retained when they shed light on some phase of Sublett's creative life.

Also included are CDs Murder Ballads and Noir Capers Part One and Beat Love Samples and a poster for the Marathon Read-thrus held at University of Texas Performing Arts Center. Few items were in folders; those titles appear in quotation marks.

The material consists mainly of photographs of Texas musicians at various local venues including Gordos in San Marcos and Gruene Hall, taken by Applegate; some photos have subjects identified on the back but most do not. Material includes performance flyers, concert ticket subs, song lists, and five unprocessed rolls of film removed from a bag labeled “photos of Roger Creager”.
