Ray Benson's archive contains materials documenting his entire career, featuring records, photographs, instruments, wardrobe, awards and other memorabilia dating from 1951-2018.

Series Description From the Series: Series I: Artists Files, 1922-2019, undated Boxes 1-155 Artist Files comprise the bulk of the collection. The files are separated into Male Artist Files and Female Artist Files to maintain Hernández’s original order. Both series are then arranged alphabetically by artist last name or band name. Abstract From the Series:

The Ray Benson archive includes material documenting Benson’s music career from 1971-2017. Majority of the collection includes promotional articles, including an article from John Morthland; and awards. Included in the collection are photographs of Benson with President George W. Bush, Laura Bush, and others; Benson’s boots and concert jacket; and correspondence with Dolly Parton and others. The folder titles preceding a semicolon reflect Benson’s original descriptions.

Additions to the John T. Davis Accessions include his extensive subject files, arranged alphabetically by artist. Contents vary, but typically include promotional photographs, Davis’ writings and interview notes, press releases, newspaper clippings, and other ephemera.
