Scope and Contents

This collection contains materials related to Falls Halls and the decommissioning of the building. It contains clippings, plaques, slides, and photographs. Of note are scrapbooks depicting students engaged in dorm life from the 1990s and 2000s. Materials are arranged by object type.

Historical note

Falls Hall opened on Sunday, November 13, 1966 as the new women’s dormitory, and was officially named for Elizabeth Falls. Elizabeth Falls was among the first faculty of the Training School, which opened in 1914. Falls Hall provided living quarters for male and female students at Texas State University until 2011, when it was demolished to make room for the Performing Arts Center. A decommissioning ceremony took place on February 28, 2011, the first ever at Texas State, to honor the long history and service of Falls Hall.
