Pedagog staff and Press Club photographic negative collection
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of black and white photographic negatives which were used in the student yearbook, the Pedagog, and other university publications in the 1960s. The negatives consist of a range of formats including 35mm and 4x4. Some of the negative envelopes include titles and list photographers that match up with known Pedagog staff and Press Club members. Subjects of the images include scenes of campus, faculty and staff portraits, sporting events, and student events including beauty pageants. Arranged according to envelope number; note that there are gaps in the number ranges. This collection is partially processed and some of the negatives have been digitized.

Texas State University was established by the 26th Legislature in 1899 as the Southwest Texas State Normal School; 313 pupils were enrolled in 1903-04, the first year classes were held. The school name changed to Southwest Texas State Normal College in 1918, to Southwest Texas State Teachers College in 1925, to Southwest Texas State College in 1959, to Southwest Texas State University in 1969, to Texas State University-San Marcos in 2003, and to Texas State University in 2013.
