Scope and Contents
This collection contains two student notebooks completed for home economics courses: Domestic Art 1 Elementary Sewing (Summer Session 1915) and Domestic Art 3 and 6 (Spring term 1916). The notebooks consist primarily of handwritten notes about fibers, textiles, and constructing garments. In addition to printed lessons and diagrams, the samples of textiles are a highlight of the collection. Samples include practice stitches and seams, pieces of lace, and cut squares of period fabrics.

Biographical note
Lucy P. Atkinson graduated from Southwest Texas State Normal School in 1919 and received a diploma and a permanent certificate. She was a member and subsequently Vice President of the Home Economics Club and a member of the Y.W.C.A.
