Series Description From the Series:

Arranged by genre (articles, books, sound recordings, screenplays, short stories and teleplays), most of the works in this series are based on or inspired by Shepard’s works. Authors mailed the works to Shepard for his comments, and many items include typescripts annotated by Shepard and correspondence.

Scope and Contents From the Series: Archival material donated by writer William Broyles, the bulk of the material is from 1965-2013. This addition includes many materials relating to his magazine career, including clippings documenting the founding of Texas Monthly, Broyles’ time as editor of Newsweek, and many of the articles he wrote for other publications. Sub-Series Description From the Sub-Series: The Texas Institute of Letters was organized in 1936 during the year of the Texas Centennial for the purpose of the "promotion and recognition of literature in Texas."
