Scope and Contents From the Series: Archival materials following the history of African American Theatre in Texas. The collection includes research done by Dr. Elvin Holt, who co- authored Stages of Struggle and Celebration: A Production History of Black Theatre in Texas along with Dr. Sandra Mayo. These papers are a companion collection to Dr. Mayo’s archive previously established at the Wittliff. Materials include play scripts used by Dr. Holt in editing the anthology, Acting Up and Getting Down: Plays by African American Texas. Play writes include Celeste Bedford Walker, Antoinette F. Winstead, Ted Shine, and Thomas Melancon. Folder titles preceding a semicolon reflect Holt’s original descriptions.
