Contents vary, but typically include promotional photographs, Davis’ writings and interview notes, press releases, newspaper clippings, and other ephemera. This series contains research on various people and places (arranged in alphabetical order), in the form of typewritten notes, photographs, scholarly papers, Tejano Press kits, Abraham’s military records, a Selena Boutique catalog and information on Texas radio stations. Yolanda Saldivar’s folder within this series contains her signed murder confession with the Corpus Christi police. In addition, there is extensive information collected on Tejano music and Tejano stars.

These files make up the Subject Files sub-series and are the bulk of the Research series.They are arranged alphabetically by subject. This series of subject files and artist files, made up of newspaper clippings, notes, interviews, photographs and ephemera, illustrates Patoski's many areas of interest and his research methods. Patoski wrote about and published pieces relating to many of the topics and people in the subject and artist files. Of particular note is the large amount on material on Joe "King" Carrasco and his band, who Patoski managed in the 1980s.

Scope and Contents From the Collection:

Archival materials relating to the career and personal life of musician/playwright/author, Bobby Bridger from 1944-2018. Included are photographs (including a photo of Bridger with Lady Bird Johnson); promotional material for A Ballad of the West; handwritten lyrics such as Heal in the Wisdom; and Bridger’s vinyl records of Merging of our Minds, And I Wanted to Sing for the People, and Heal in the Wisdom. Also, included in the collection is a screenplay for Shakespeare and the Indians.

Arranged chronologically, this series includes photocopies and printouts of articles and columns written by Shrake and published in newspapers and magazines, from 1953-2006. These folders do not contain all of Shrake’s published work in periodicals, particularly regarding his years as a sportswriter and police beat reporter in Fort Worth and Dallas. Most notably missing is anything from his work at the Dallas Times Herald.
