This arrangement reflects Shrake’s, in that he filed some of his letters by correspondent, and some by year. This series of subject files and artist files, made up of newspaper clippings, notes, interviews, photographs and ephemera, illustrates Patoski's many areas of interest and his research methods. Patoski wrote about and published pieces relating to many of the topics and people in the subject and artist files. Of particular note is the large amount on material on Joe "King" Carrasco and his band, who Patoski managed in the 1980s.

The archives of Texas singer-songwriter James McMurtry include a career-spanning (from 1984 up to and including his 2021 album, The Horses and the Hounds) collection of personal papers and original song lyrics, press clippings, photographs, master audio recordings, and video cassettes. The collection is divided into nine series, with Series I-VIII comprising all of the papers,notepads and photographs (and some small personal items) and Series IX all of the audio and video recordings.
