Series Description From the Series:

The bulk of Kindrick’s personal papers include clippings of his “Offbeat” column that appeared in the San Antonio Express News, 1968-1974. The column is a precursor to the workhe would later do at Action Magazine, and the subjects are similar: music, culture, off-beat stories of sports, politics, and society.

Writings include a poem, a short story entitled “And Not Heard: A Short Story by Margaret Moser About the importance of Being Young and Earnest,” and articles about Austin musicians and the Austin music scene.

Two boxes, multimedia miscellanea from Michael Corcoran, including photography, musical pieces and paraphernalia from and regarding bands, artists, concerts, venues and publications; accolades, awards and contest information; advertisements; as well as a treasured book, correspondence, publications, clippings and some material from childhood, as well as other handwritten material.

The promotional material series is predominately made up of photographic and printed material sent to Patoski from music, television and film production companies, record companies, and talent agencies. Other promotional materials in this series include catalogs, newsletters, festival advertisements, press releases and ephemera all relating to the music industry.

Scope and Contents From the Series: Archival materials donated by Austin, Texas based author, music journalist and Grammy nominee, Michael Corcoran. After moving to Texas in 1984, Corcoran worked as the country music critic for the Dallas Morning News. In 1994, he became the pop music critic for the Dallas Morning News until his move to Austin in 1995.
