Archival materials following music critic Brian Atkinson’s career from 1981 to 2015. Included are song lyrics, interview cassette tapes (Kent and Jenni Finlay, Terri Hendrix, James McMurtry, and Harold Eggers, etc.), newspaper articles, manuscripts, and promotion materials for concerts. The folder titles reflect Atkinson’s original descriptions.

Photographs picture notable musicians from the Austin including: Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Ely, Paul Ray, Dino Lee, the Neville Brothers, Bo Diddley, Clifford Antone, Rocky Erikson, Lou Ann Barton, and Lowell George. The series is arranged first by photographs of Margaret Moser, and then by photographer

Variety of material including CDs, LPs, t-shirt and caps, posters, magazines, newspapers and newspaper clippings, drafts and manuscripts of work, photos, correspondence, music announcements and musician press kits, notes and notebooks, maps, brochures and other artifacts. Majority of material was not in files or labeled; file titles are in quotation marks when present.

This collection contains materials received from writer Brian Atkinson which includes handwritten lyrics from Townes Van Zandt and Eric Andersen; correspondence pertaining to Ted Hawkin’s tribute album; and a co-written Kent Finlay, Dreamer manuscript by Atkinson and Jenni Finlay with a foreward by George Strait. The folder titles preceding a semicolon reflect Atkinson’s original descriptions, 1957-2016.
