Newspaper articles, SXSW and ACL programs, and drafts for the John T. Davis archive. This collection includes a wide expanse of Davis’s articles from 1980-2010, including articles from Davis’s music review column in the Austin-American Statesman. This collection also contains official SXSW and ACL music and program guides, as well as drafts of Davis’s comprehensive ACL book, Austin City Limits: 25 Years of Music.

Contents vary, but typically include promotional photographs, Davis’ writings and interview notes, press releases, newspaper clippings, and other ephemera. The promotional material series is predominately made up of photographic and printed material sent to Patoski from music, television and film production companies, record companies, and talent agencies. Other promotional materials in this series include catalogs, newsletters, festival advertisements, press releases and ephemera all relating to the music industry.

Included within this series is various correspondence related to or peripheral to Patoski’s research. It is organized in alphabetical order by author. Of special note are correspondence from Little, Brown & Company to Patoski concerning legal issues related to the publication of the book. Also of special interest is the correspondence between Patoski and Selena’s father concerning Abraham’s wish for Patoski to ghost write a biography of Selena.
