Individual handwritten and typed poems, and hand-bound books of poetry, comprise this subseries. Many of the individual poems are accompanied by drafts, some are single copies. Individual poems are arranged alphabetically, followed by books of poetry, also arranged alphabetically. See also Series 2 : Personal, Subseries C: Scrapbook, for early drafts of poetry.

This seriesdocuments the two corporations that Shrake started and operated: Mad Dog, Inc. and East Pole Corporation. The Mad Dog, Inc. Corporate Structure and correspondence reflect the company’s satirical nature. The East Pole Corporation materials include receipts, reports, a budget, tax records, pension plan and an embosser.

The first binder contents are in folders 1-51 and were from Cisneros’ time at The University of Iowa. This series includes extensive research files and many annotated typescripts of Crook’s first novel. The research files include clippings, handwritten notes, photographs, and correspondence with research assistant Eva B. Denning, of Gallatin, TN, 1984-90. The typescripts have been arranged in alphabetical order by working titles.

Scope and Contents From the Series: Archival material donated by writer, Elizabeth Crook. The materials consist of Crook’s note card index, notes and index cards “A – New Mexico” for her manuscript The Night Journal. Arranged chronologically, Publications span 1970-2003 and include magazines and journals that contain contributions by Cisneros. The earliest items are literary magazines Now and Cadence, from Josephinum Academy and Loyola University, respectively. For each publication, the date and title of the Cisneros contribution is included in the container list. Oversized publications are in box 85.

Series I: Novels (1991-1999) documents the writing and editing process of Bonner’s four published novels, Lily, Looking After Lily, The Passion of Dellie O’Barr, and Right from Wrong.
