Abstract

The Bill Wittliff papers document the book publishing, photography, and screenwriting and filmmaking aspects of Mr. Wittliff’s various professional and personal pursuits, ranging in date from 1968-1995, and including the following formats: correspondence, typescript drafts, bibliographies, woodcut blocks, illustrations, photographs, screenplay drafts, film storyboards and other production materials. Scope and Contents From the Collection: These papers represent drafts of several of Gipson’s short stories, screenplays, and one nonfiction autobiographical piece, arranged by genre and in chronological order, with dates ranging from 1948-1957, and many items having no date. Scope and Contents From the Collection:

This addition to the Benton archives includes drafts of several screenplays in partnership with David Newton (including Bad Company, Places In The Heart, Lovesick Blues, War in the Val D’orcia, Stolen, Places in Samarra) photographs of movie sets and actors, and original movie posters. Artifacts include Benton’s awards and Bachelor’s degree.

Drafts, manuscripts, and typescripts of Hauptman’s plays, teleplay, screenplays, short stories, poetry, novel, articles and criticism are located in this series. Titles under each genre are filed alphabetically. Related correspondence, reviews, clippings, publicity, and playbills are filed after the draft or script for each title.
