Newspaper articles, SXSW and ACL programs, and drafts for the John T. Davis archive. This collection includes a wide expanse of Davis’s articles from 1980-2010, including articles from Davis’s music review column in the Austin-American Statesman. This collection also contains official SXSW and ACL music and program guides, as well as drafts of Davis’s comprehensive ACL book, Austin City Limits: 25 Years of Music.

Abstract From the Series: Series I, “Lyrics for Released Albums,” is divided chronologically into sub-series by album, one for each of his studio albums (and one live album) released between 1989 and 2021: Too Long in the Wasteland, Candyland, Where’d You Hide the Body, It Had to Happen, Walk Between the Raindrops, Saint Mary of the Woods, Live in Aught-Three, Childish Things, Just Us Kids, Complicated Game, and The Horses and the Hounds. Majority of material consists of press releases, newspaper clippings, and public relations photos of various musicians from Texas. Titles in quotation marks were taken from original folder titles. Also included are thirteen CD’s and eighteen cassette tapes.
