Authors mailed the works to Shepard for his comments, and many items include typescripts annotated by Shepard and correspondence.

The series for Plays is the largest of Shepard’s works and includes notes, annotated typescripts, playbills, programs, correspondence, sound recordings, rehearsal schedules, reviews, and publicity. This series is notable in that Shepard meticulously identified each annotated draft with the date and place (by city and state) of each revision, and there tend to be multiple drafts of each work represented.

This series contains a scrotal sac and an accompanying photograph of a calf being castrated. Also included are fan gifts, such as a “lefthand” charm, a “New Age” crystal, and artwork in beaded frame. In addition, this series contains a “Bullie Bag” and associated documentation.

Material donated includes manuscripts, newspaper and magazine articles on Lansdale and four computer discs with emails that have been printed out. These emails are mainly related to work by Lansdale and include some personal correspondence. Books accessioned separately [see Accession 2008-152] and placed in the backlog.

Sheet Music, undated
Books, manuscripts, sheet music, galleys, handwritten notes, and photographs in this collection relate primarily to Frazier’s 1983 biographical essay on SWT alumna Ponce Cruse Evans, author of the syndicated newspaper column, “Hints from Heloise”. Photographs and clippings relate to both Heloise Cruse Ponce, and her mother, Heloise Cruse. Dates range from 1981-1989. Books from this collection have been cataloged separately.
