Series Description From the Series:

The series for Plays is the largest of Shepard’s works and includes notes, annotated typescripts, playbills, programs, correspondence, sound recordings, rehearsal schedules, reviews, and publicity. This series is notable in that Shepard meticulously identified each annotated draft with the date and place (by city and state) of each revision, and there tend to be multiple drafts of each work represented.

It seemed the author intended to remain as low-key in his afterlife as he had been during his lifetime. Then, in 2022 a remarkable discovery was made in the basement of a Little Rock home. Workers went into a crawl space to do HVAC work and found huge stacks of papers. Portis, as it turned out, had preserved an archive after all. Archival materials following the life and career of an American writer, author, martial arts expert, and martial arts instructor Joe R. Lansdale. Majority of the materials in this collection are movie scripts of Christmas with the Dead; Christmas of the Dead 2; and episode scripts of Hap and Leonard. Scope and Contents From the Series:

Material donated includes manuscripts, newspaper and magazine articles on Lansdale and four computer discs with emails that have been printed out.
