Series Description From the Series:

Arranged into subseries for correspondence to Russell Lee and to Jean Lee, this material is filed in alphabetical order by the name of the correspondent. The bulk of the correspondence to Russell Lee is comprised of letters from Jack Hurley regarding their collaboration on the book, Russell Lee: Photographer.

Sub-Series Description From the Sub-Series:

A western starring Gary Busey and Willie Nelson. This series contains drafts of the script, costumes, photographs by Wittliff, the script supervisor's files, the editing and sound notes, publicity, distribution, and clippings of reviews and interviews. The archive also contains the dailies on film reels and a 16mm print of the film.

Two-hundred forty-eight of these photographs by Russell Lee were taken for the Farm Security Administration (FSA) between 1936 and 1942. The gems of this part of the collection are the 130 vintage prints; most are complete with captions typed on the back by FSA staff. Videotapes document the project by capturing the team members traveling and planning their progress, and by including some oral history work. These tapes are marked either “Pie Town” or “San Augustine”, and are numbered. Additionally, one tape includes a thirty-minute interview with Russell Lee circa 1975, produced by Paul Hightower.
