This collection includes musical calendars of performances at the Soap Creek Saloon created by poster artist Kerry Awn. Founded by George Majewski and Carlyne Majer, the Soap Creek Saloon was a music venue in Austin, Texas that ran from 1974-1985. Artists that performed at the Soap Creek Saloon include Marcia Ball, Willie Nelson, Paul Ray and the Cobras, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe Ely, Augie Meyers, and many more.

Historical note

The Soap Creek Saloon was a music venue in Austin, Texas that was open from 1974-1985. The venue was founded by George Majewski and Carlyne Majer, where they both ran and booked shows for the venue. Soap Creek Saloon was famous for being the heart of the progressive country music scene, but also had performances by rock, jazz, blues, and punk musicians. Artists that performed at the Soap Creek include Willie Nelson, Marcia Ball, Paul Ray and the Cobras, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Triple Threat Revue, Joe Ely, Augie Meyers, and many more. The music venue was also a place of community and hosted cookouts, softball games, comedy shows, and movie nights. Two movies that were filmed at the Soap Creek include “Outlaw Blues” (1977) and “Roadie” (1980). The Soap Creek Saloon had three homes in Austin, starting off on Burnet Road, moving to North Lamar, and then spending its last years at South Congress.
