Scope and Contents
Archival materials donated by Austin, Texas based author, music journalist and Grammy nominee, Michael Corcoran. After moving to Texas in 1984, Corcoran worked as the country music critic for the Dallas Morning News. In 1994, he became the pop music critic for the Dallas Morning News until his move to Austin in 1995. In 1995, Corcoran joined the writing staff of the Austin American Statesman working as a music critic until his retirement in 2011. The bulk of the materials in this collection includes articles written by Corcoran, drafts, interviews, correspondence, newspaper clippings and background research materials pertaining to Texas based and national musicians/ bands and celebrities in addition to other subject matter presumably for future articles.
