From the Series:

Archival materials donated by Austin, Texas based author, music journalist and Grammy nominee, Michael Corcoran. After moving to Texas in 1984, Corcoran worked as the country music critic for the Dallas Morning News. In 1994, he became the pop music critic for the Dallas Morning News until his move to Austin in 1995. In 1995, Corcoran joined the writing staff of the Austin American Statesman working as a music critic until his retirement in 2011. The bulk of the material includes Corcoran’s early rock music essays and notes and research materials for columns and books pertaining to 1920’s Texas gospel singers Blind Willie Johnson, Arizona Danes and Washington Phillips. Also included are vital records, copies of photographs and corresopndence.
