From the Series:

Archival materials donated by Austin, Texas based author, music journalist and Grammy nominee, Michael Corcoran. After moving to Texas in 1984, Corcoran worked as the country music critic for the Dallas Morning News. In 1994, he became the pop music critic for the Dallas Morning News until his move to Austin in 1995. In 1995, Corcoran joined the writing staff of the Austin American Statesman working as a music critic until his retirement in 2011. The bulk of the materials in this collection include articles written by Corcoran featuring various musicians and bands, drafts, interviews, correspondence, newspaper clippings and research materials pertaining to musicians and bands including Poi Dog, Dash Rip Rock, Tex Guinan, Lefty Frizzell, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Buck Owens among others, and some articles not written by Corcoran.
