Most movies live and die with their bad guy. Often what he or she wants and does will drive your story, so it's crucial that you avoid cliché and give the villain depth. But watch out - the trick is creating a compelling antagonist who doesn't have to betray himself in order for the hero to win. It's a tightrope you have to walk.
