Series Description

From the Series:

The images in this collection, including photographs, negatives, photocopies, and stats appeared in Texas Monthly alongside their longform articles and other editorial features. Photographers that are included in the collection include: Geoff Winningham, Keith Carter, David Smale, Patrick Berry, Will van Overbeek, Joe Baraban, Jim Cammack, Dennis Darling, and many others.

The collection is strong at showing the diverse inhabitants of Texas (see: "I Was a Bum" by Dick J. Reavis with photographs by Joe Baraban; "Working the Rigs" - Photographs by Nicolas Russell, and “Dear Parents of Dallas: Your Teenagers are Out Hot-Rodding, Drinking Beer, and Flirting on Forest Lane Every Friday Night!” by David Seeley with photographs by David Woo). As well as showcasing both the natural beauty and vibrant city life all across the state.

Another highlight are the portraits included in the collection. From sheriffs from around Texas “Howdy, Son. I’m the Law in this County” by Dick J. Reavis with photographs by Kent Barker to the Black inhabitants of Houston's Fifth Ward in "Only the Strong Survive” by Richard West with photographs by Pat Berry, to small-town homecoming queens ("Queen for a Day" - Photographs by Geoff Winningham).
