Scope and Contents

Research materials related to the production of Harriet Tubman. Materials arrived in numerous hanging file folders with specific subject file names given by artist (names of files were difficult to read, therefore not listed). Items include: various photocopies of pages from different books, typed notes, photocopies of archived materials from other universities, correspondence, computer research printouts, copy of the Quarterly of the National Archives and Records Administration dated Fall 2000, various brochures and maps, magazine tear sheets, photocopies of census records, copy of Underground Railroad Resources in the United States: Theme Study dated September 2000, newspaper clippings, photos, and various notes in indiscernible handwriting.

Also included copy of “A History of Madison Parish” by Minnie Spann Murphy, “On the Map” an exhibit catalogue of maps relating to Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay, The Early Settlers of Dorchester County and Their Lands Volume 1 by Calvin W. Mowbray and Mary I. Mowbray, and three university pedagogs – 1957 & 1958 from the University of Mississippi and 1959 from the University of Memphis State.

Bulk of the collection is open for research. Materials in Series 2008-024, Box 1013 Files 1-13 are restricted as per author/donor. Restrictions may apply to some materials in Series 2016-070.
