Consisting of 118 issues published internally over 11 years, this newsletter contains information about institutional events, programs, research projects, and other news of interest to the campus community. Readers were provided with updates on topics such as enrollment, budget concerns, construction projects, grant funding announcements, concerts, and guest speakers. These newsletters provide a snapshot of the Texas State campus in the 1990s.

Historical Note
The first issue, titled simply "Newsletter," asked employees to suggest a new name for the publication. Pat Murdock, the director of News and Iinformation Services, came up with the winning name and it became the "Chautauquan" in January 1990. The title, which tied into SWT and San Marcos history, was selected from over 70 unique entries.
