Stereograph collection
Scope and Contents
This collection contains one stereoscope along with portions of different Keystone View Company and Standard Scenic Company sets of stereographs that include scenes from the United States, Germany, Switzerland, and other areas. Among the images are physical features, cities and buildings, industrial and historic sites, and people. The backs of the stereographs produced by the Keystone View Company contains descriptions about the images along with references to history and occasionally poetry. The stereograph images are organized into two series according to manufacturer.

Historical note
The Keystone View Company was founded in 1892. By 1905, it was the foremost producer of stereo views in the world. From 1892 to 1963 Keystone produced both educational and comic/sentimental view images using staff photographers whose work was not credited. In 1963 the company was sold and its home-sales stereographs division was closed. Both the Keystone View Company and the Standard Scenic Company have listed offices in Meadville, Pennsylania.

Abstract
Collection of public domain stereograph belonging to the University Archives, Texas State University.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Donated at Texas State University Alumni House, before the establishment of the university archive, with a note stating that the materials had belonged to Mary Alexander, a former professor at the university.
