Historical note

The LBJ Distinguished Lecture Series was inaugurated in 1982 by President Robert Hardesty. In 1973, President Johnson brought his economic advisor Walter Heller to campus. It was the President's hope that Dr. Heller would be the first of many national leaders to visit Texas State and share their philosophies and experiences with the students. Less than a week later, President Johnson died before any formal plans could be made to follow up on his idea.

The Lyndon Baines Johnson Distinguished Lecture Series fulfills the President's promise and honors the university's most distinguished alumnus.
