Scope and Contents

Letters related to planning for the Great Issues Lecture Series, Southwest Texas State Teachers College, with Eleanor Roosevelt speaking on "Word Concepts of Communism," held at 8:00PM on February 18, 1957. Dr. Ralph Houston was responsible for arranging speakers for the Great Issue Lectures. Letters from Eleanor Roosevelt are typed on letterhead stationery measuring 6"x7" and signed by Roosevelt, and include the stamped envelopes addressed to Prof. Ralph H. Houston.

1. January 15, 1957: Roosevelt asked Professor Houston if he could arrange for her to meet with her cousin, Mrs. Lawrence Waterbury, who lives in San Marcos.

2. January 29, 1957: Roosevelt indicates she will be happy to answer questions after her talk, and is looking forward to seeing Mrs. Waterbury.

3. February 20, 1957: Note expressing thanks to Professor Houston for arranging for her to visit with her cousin, Mrs. Waterbury, and for his kindness during her visit in San Marcos.
