Speeches as president, 1989

The collection was primarily created and compiled by the University News and Information Service and the Office of Media Relations and Publications. The materials collected were used by the offices to produce, manage, and disseminate information internally and externally about the president and the university. Materials include planning materials for the presidential selection and Supple’s installation, media coverage of events, Supple’s cancer diagnosis and research, and items related to his legacy including photographs.

The collection is divided into five series: Selection and Installation as President, 1988; Presidency, 1989-2002; Speeches as President, 1989-2002; Retirement, Passing, and Legacy, 2001-2004; and Audiovisual materials and objects, 1989-2004. Due to the absence of a useable original order, the arrangement was artificially imposed during processing.
