Scope and Contents
This collection consists of 38 works of art, along with one text document related to the artwork.
Beard donated sixteen oil paintings. Texas artists Ulrich W. Fisher, Joseph Lane, Gerald Harvey Jones (G. Harvey), Renne Hughes, and Porfirio Salinas are represented in the collection, as well as paintings by Earl G. Hammock (Arizona), Robert Wesley Amick (Connecticut/Colorado), Oscar Edmund Berninghas (New Mexico/Missouri/Kansas), Ross Stefan (Arizona), Harry Worthman (New York), Leonard Howard Reedy (Illinois), Mike Carroll (unknown), and William Herbert Dunton (Main/New Mexico). Many of the paintings are Texas landscapes and scenes related to the old West.
Beard also selected twenty engravings produced by Star Engraving Company of Houston, Texas. Nine of these engravings were created by artist Bernhardt Wall.

Biographical / Historical
BERNHARDT WALL (1872-1956)
Bernhardt T. Wall was an American historian and lithographic illustrator. He designed more than 5,000 comic cards, and became known as the "Postcard King". Many were "patriotic" cards, and American "propaganda" cards printed during World War I.
The year 1915 marked a defining point in Wall’s artistic career. Wall visited Colorado, Nevada and California making etchings of Native Americans, cowboys and major cities. Wall continued to produce many fine etchings of the American West and by 1930 had also become a much respected historian of the region.
Wall etched three sitting presidents of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt, Warren Taft, and Henry Coolidge. Other prominent individuals etched by Wall include Sam Houston, Mark Twain, Thomas A. Edison, Abraham Lincoln, and Andrew Jackson.
