 File — Box: 55

Content Description

From the Collection:

This collection consists of issues of the student newspaper, titled the Normal Star, College Star, and University Star. Most issues in original format, as well as the master microfilm, are presrvation copies and are thus resticted from public access, but there are some bound copies available for public use. More recent records include media kits and publication rates, as well as related artifacts.

The first issue of the Normal Star, the student newspaper at Southwest Texas State Normal School, was published in February 1911. The title changed to the College Star in 1923 when the normal school became a college. The final name change to the University Star happened in 1969, when the college was officially designated a university.

Over the course of its history, issue publication schedules and physical size/format change frequently. Issues are primarily published during long semesters, with an occasional special issue published during the summers.
