Biography
Ronald C. Brown is Professor of History and Assistant Vice President for Academic services at Texas State University. He began teaching at the University in 1975, and has published two books on its history: Beacon on the Hill (1979); and, Up the Hill, Down the Years (1999).

Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative oral history project
The Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC) was established in 1938 with funds from the Rural Electrification Administration. Its purpose was to provide electricity to rural areas in the vicinity of Guadalupe and Gonzales counties, east of San Antonio, Texas. Many of the interviewees were charter customers and employees of GVEC. Interviewees were asked to comment on how their lives changed as a result of the availability of electricity, and their experience with GVEC services.
