Walker, Jerry Jeff

This collection consists of research documents and taped interviews with transcipts conducted with Jerry Jeff Walker, Walker’s family, friends and other musicians. Materials were compiled by Earl Casey as research for the book Gypsy Songman.

The Raw Deal Collection documents the activities and operation of “The Raw Deal” and “Another Raw Deal” restaurants in Austin, Texas through ephemera, correspondence, artwork, and a large number of photographs.

This small collection is comprised of the handwritten lyrics and chord notations to the country western song “Charlie Dunn”, written in the 1970s by Jerry Jeff Walker for the Texas boot maker by that name. Also included is the first pair of custom lizard skin boots made for Walker by Dunn.
