Biography

The Association of Colleges and Preparatory Schools of the Southern States was established in 1895. Its name was changed in 1912 to Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools of the Southern States, in 1932 to Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, and again, about 1962, to Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. In 1965 the Association absorbed the members of the Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools (known 1934-1955 as Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools for Negroes).
