Biography

The Southwest Theatre Conference (SWTC) was formed in 1948 and represented Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. Its first meeting was held at the University of Oklahoma. SWTC was a regional theatre organization that held a yearly conference for its members. Its mission was: "[t]o share the reults of our several experiences, researches, and knowledge and by such mutual interechange to improve the theatre in this [s]outhwest region." Membership included those who worked in community, university, college, and high school theatres within the southwest region. The organization eventually changed its name to the Southwest Theatre Association.
